Finding the Root - finding purposeful actions that your person can do

Updated: Jul 30

This is a brief video for caregivers who may be having difficulty finding meaningful actions or tasks that their person can do. Maybe your person isn't able to initiate actions, or they aren't able to do what they used to enjoy. I call this approach, "Finding the root." It's a way to identify purposeful actions or tasks: think about what your person used to enjoy. Now we look for a practice that is at the root of that action, something that your person can do. For ex, if they used to enjoy sewing, maybe now they'd enjoy looking through McCall's patterns, or sorting the sewing box. Finding the Root helps you to look for something meaningful to your person that they can enjoy today.
